Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during my complimentary 15-minute consultation call?
Finding the right therapist is about more than credentials—it’s about connection. You deserve to feel seen, heard, and safe in this space. Our consultation call is a chance for us to get a feel for one another and explore whether working together feels like a good fit. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about how I work, and share what’s bringing you to therapy. By the end of the call, you should have a clear sense of whether this feels like the right space for you. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay—I’m always happy to offer referrals to someone who might be a better match for your needs.
Can you see clients who live outside of California?
At this time, I’m only able to provide therapy to clients who reside in California, as I am licensed solely in this state. Licensing laws require therapists to be credentialed in the state where the client is physically located during sessions. If you're located outside of California, I'm happy to help you find a qualified therapist in your area.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I am in-network with several major insurance providers. Currently, I accept:
Aetna
Anthem Blue Cross California
Anthem EAP (Bank of America-specific)
Blue Shield of California
Carelon Behavioral Health
Cigna
Quest Behavioral Health
United Healthcare
United Healthcare Medicare Advantage
Oxford (Optum)
If your plan is with one of these insurers, your sessions may be covered in full or in part, depending on your benefits. I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your mental health coverage, any copays or deductibles, and whether pre-authorization is required.
If you're using a PPO plan not listed above, I can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits.
Still unsure? Feel free to reach out—I'm happy to help you navigate your options.
Is everything we talk about confidential?
Yes—your privacy is incredibly important, and our work together is kept strictly confidential. In California, therapy is protected by laws that recognize the privileged nature of the therapist-client relationship. This means that everything you share during sessions, along with any records I keep (whether written or electronic), is confidential and cannot be disclosed without your written permission.
However, there are a few specific situations where therapists are legally and ethically required to break confidentiality in order to protect your safety or the safety of others:
If there is reason to believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else
If you make a credible threat to harm another person, I may be required to notify the intended individual(s) and law enforcement
If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult
If a court orders the release of your records or mandates therapist testimony
Outside of these legally required exceptions, nothing you share will be discussed or disclosed without your consent. If you ever have questions about confidentiality, I’ll be happy to talk through them with you.
