Couples Therapy
Love can be one of the most meaningful—and most complicated—parts of being human. We all want to feel connected, seen, and safe in our relationships. But even the strongest partnerships can get stuck. Whether it’s conflict that never seems to get resolved, emotional distance, or the slow drift of disconnection, relationships take intention and care to thrive.
At Heal the Way Counseling + Wellness, I offer couples therapy to partners of all backgrounds, identities, and orientations. Some couples come in at a breaking point. Others are looking to strengthen the foundation before it starts to crack. Either way, the work we do together is focused on helping you communicate more effectively, reconnect emotionally, and rediscover what brought you together in the first place.
Sometimes both partners are equally open to the process. Other times, one person may be hesitant. That’s normal. My job is to create a space where both of you feel safe enough to show up honestly—even if you’re coming in with skepticism, frustration, or hurt. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.
Who Couples Therapy Is For
Couples therapy isn’t just for those in crisis (though if you’re in one, I’m here for that too). It’s for anyone wanting to understand each other better, navigate a life transition, or get unstuck from painful patterns that keep playing on repeat. I work with couples facing:
Ongoing conflict or gridlock
Emotional disconnection or lack of intimacy
High-stress transitions like new parenthood, loss, relocation, or aging
Constant miscommunication or feelings of not being heard
Resentment, avoidance, or fear of “rocking the boat”
Uncertainty about staying together
I also offer premarital counseling for couples who want to start their marriage with clarity and intention. We’ll explore your values, communication styles, goals, and potential friction points—so you’re not just planning a wedding, but building a strong foundation for life.
When the Relationship Feels Volatile
If your relationship feels like an emotional rollercoaster—lots of highs, lots of lows, lots of confusion—you’re not alone. Some clients come in wondering if their partner may have traits of a personality disorder, or they’re stuck in a cycle of breaking up and getting back together. It can be hard to tell what’s "normal conflict" and what might be toxic or unsustainable. In these situations, we slow down. I offer a compassionate but honest space to assess the relationship dynamic, educate both partners on what’s happening, and support you in making empowered decisions—whether that’s repairing the bond or considering separation.
The Approach
My approach to couples therapy is eclectic and tailored to the unique needs of each relationship. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities—including the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy—to help couples build connection, improve communication, and work through challenges in a way that feels constructive and grounded. Some sessions may focus on developing practical tools for managing conflict, while others go deeper into emotional patterns, attachment wounds, and unmet needs. My goal is to create a space where both partners feel heard and understood, and where we can explore both the roots of the disconnection and the path forward—together.
